How to use Grammar Picnic
Choose a topic
Browse by topic, use Search, or find a teaching point in a standards directory. Custom sheet combines skills and sentence types.
Learn
Read the rule and work through the examples. Show the answer to check each example. New examples gives another selection.
Practice
Choose Together to reveal answers as a group, or On my own to enter answers and check them individually. On my own shows a score at the end of the set.
Level, Questions and Sentences filter the exercises. How many changes the set length from 5 to 50 questions. New set generates another selection.
Projector
Projector opens a full-screen view. Press Space to show an answer, then advance. The arrow keys move between sentences; Esc exits full screen.
The Print tab previews the worksheet and answer key. Show answers displays answers beneath each question. Answer key adds a separate page of answers. Both settings apply to the preview, printout and PDF. Choose New questions below Print and Save as PDF for a fresh set. Choose Print to open the browser’s print dialog, or Save as PDF to download a file. Common Core and topic pages use US Letter; England pages use A4.
Printing or saving a PDF keeps the sheet's basket code on this device. The basket at the top of every page shows how many are kept and opens Saved baskets, where you can search them, open one again, copy its code or remove it.
Reopen a set
Open Basket code below Learn or Practice. Enter a basket code and choose Open set to restore its exercises and difficulty. A code for another topic opens that topic automatically. You can also bookmark or copy the page address to keep its set and view.
Enter a magic word and choose Use word to select a set. The same word and settings reproduce the same practice and worked examples. The basket code saves the resulting selection; the word itself stays in the open page.
Scan the QR code on a printed worksheet to open the same set in On my own. The printed worksheet also includes the basket code. Answers and scores are not saved; reopening a set starts a new attempt.
